This is an Powered MTH 20-2172-1 Burlington, Northern and Santa Fe Dash 9 3-Rail Diesel Locomotive Set with Protosound from 1998. Features include 2 precision flywheel equipped motors, an operating protosmoke system, a protosound electronic reverse unit, remote protocouplers, includes protosound digital sound with squeaking brakes and passenger station sounds by QSI. The husky stack features fast angle wheels, needle point axles, die-cast metal operating knuckle couplers and an end of car train device (ETD).

This locomotive does not include DCS (Digital Command System) features because it has ProtoSound 1.0. Only locomotives with ProtoSound 2.0 and ProtoSound 3.0 include DCS functions.
