Here is a Lionel 392E Vintage Standard Gauge 4-4-2 Steam Locomotive and Tender – Repainted. This is the second-largest of Lionel’s Standard Gauge steam locomotives. It features a single motor, die-cast frame and boiler, firebox glow, headlight, and all metal construction.

Originally introduced in 1880 in the UK, the “Atlantic” or 4-4-2 would rise to prominence around the world in little to no time after its introduction. Respected and beloved around the world from the United States to Mozambique, the 4-4-2 found itself commissioned in various rail-yards across several continents. In the United States the 4-4-2 would be called the “Milwaukee due to it running on the Milwaukee rail-road, but most would find that the “Atlantic” just rolled off the tongue a little bit better. In its construction the 4-4-2 saw an advantage over other locomotives thanks to its trailing wheels allowing for a deeper firebox in the driving wheels. Most of the Atlantic models would see their time in the spotlight come to an end, and would eventually go out of commission in the mid-20th century. Today handfuls exist in preservation status in various rail-road museums.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-5: Good based on visual appearance. Add a vintage touch to your current collection with this 384 2-4-0 Steam Locomotive and Tender by Lionel! This locomotive is in overall Good condition, as there are nicks, scratches, and signs of surface rust present on both the locomotive and tender. Both items appear to have been repainted and some point in time, as there are visible imperfections painted over on the boiler and tender body. Spots of blubbing in the paint are visible on the tender surface as well as some drip marks. Although repainted, both items still show signs of paint wear and chipping. Several of the copper trim parts are missing as well as the latch for the boiler front and the locomotive trailing truck. The wheels show signs of wear. This item has been inspected by our repair shop. Please see the attached picture for inspection details and additional operation information. Bulbs removed by previous owner. This locomotive has operational issues due to bad gear and is being sold As-Is. The instruction manuals and original boxes are not included with these items.
