This is a Lionel 6462-500 Girls Pink Gondola with Canisters from 1957-58. The 6462 New York Central gondola has the distinction of being the first long gondola introduced by Lionel in the postwar era. This gondola was Lionels answer to providing its customers with a longer and more realistic gondola than previous offerings (for example the 2452 gondola). The 6462 experienced many common manufacturing changes during its long 10-year run. For that reason, well highlight the common variations along with some of the more difficult ones to locate. Not all variations are listed on this web page. This gondola features 4 removeable canisters, die-cast metal trucks, die-cast metal operating knuckle couplers, metal wheels and axles.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. The canisters are being to yellow and are faded in certain places. Some of the labeling is starting to rub off on the canisters. The wheels show below average run-time.
