This is a Lionel 6-21791 O Gauge Freedom Train Alco Powered Diesel Train Set. The post-WWII brainchild of Attorney General Tom C. Clark, the Freedom Train carried the most important artifacts of American history to towns and cities across the country in an effort to re-dedicate citizens to the blessings of the American system. From 1947 to 1949, the rolling history lesson received 3,521,841 visitors who saw original documents such as the Declaration of Independence. These passenger cars feature interior lighting with on /off switch metal frames and diaphragms. The engine included also features plastic construction, die cast metal trucks, operating knuckle couplers, operating headlight, a decorative horn trim piece, [2] engineer cab figures, a powerful motor, and metal wheels and axles.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. Most cars are missing diaphragms while the remaining pieces are bent and warped. The locomotive and the cars show some scratches and spots of paint loss on the shell and chassis. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning.
