This is a Lionel 217 Vintage O Boston & Maine Alco A&B Diesel Locomotive Set from 1959. The 217 Boston & Maine Alco A&B diesel set was only produced in 1959. This locomotive is notable because it is the only postwar diesel that does not have the full roadname spelled out on the body, only a logo. Included is the powered A unit and the non-powered B unit. The features include unpainted blue bodies, black painted roofs and fronts, white lettering and accenting, and die-cast non-operating couplers. The powered unit is also equipped with two-axle Magnetraction, three-position E-unit, headlight plus a simulated horn on top of the cab.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. This item appears to have been run sparingly, and displays overall signs of light previous use. There are some scratches, nicks and imperfections on the paint consistent with age and use. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning.
