This is a Lionel 517 Vintage Standard Gauge Tinplate Red Caboose from 1927-40. Features include interior illumination, all tinplate construction, link couplers, tinplate trucks with journals, metal wheels and axles. This caboose is part of Lionel’s 500 series standard gauge freight cars which are a bit smaller than the 200 series large freight cars. The all-red 517 replaced the red and green 517 in the late 1930s, and it is seen a bit less often.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. This item did not function and is being sold as-is. There are nicks & scratches in the silver paint along the body. There are a few spots of rust along the couplers, wheels & axles. The wheels show signs of heavy use. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. The original box is not included. The instruction manual is not included.
