Here is a Lionel 6-9806 O Gauge Rock Island Boxcar #9806 from 1974.
This car is from the original “Standard O” series (scale-length cars that run on regular Lionel track). When introduced, Lionel did not make an engine to match these cars, so sales of the original Standard O cars were pretty slow. Thus, they are a bit harder to find than most MPC-era freight cars.
This car features a plastic construction, die cast sprung trucks, metal wheels and axles, sliding doors and operating knuckle couplers.
