This is a Micro-Trains 50000752 Z Scale Baltimore & Ohio 40′ Single-Door Box Car #466096. These 40′ box cars with sliding single Youngstown doors are painted in the late 1940s ‘Sentinel fast freight service’ paint scheme with aluminum car, with blue masked sides, and blue and silver lettering. They bear the mulit-colored ‘Signal’ heralds to the right of the doors. They were built in August 1945 by General American Transportation and run on Bettendorf trucks. Immediately after WWII, B&O introduced colorfully painted box cars designed to win-over shippers in response to the ever growing competition from trucks. This is the time B&O began its ‘Sentinel Service’ guaranteeing delivery dates to shippers.
