Introduced at the turn of the 20th century, the 2-8-2 was an innovator breaking from the traditional manufacturing of locomotives, and featuring a larger firebox paving the way for greater speeds at a higher rate of power! Before we knew it, the 2-8-2 also known as the “Mikado” found itself in rail yards around the world from the United States to the Congo hauling freight from stop to stop. The Mikado would undergo a temporary name change after the Pearl Harbor bombing in 1941 shortly going by the McArthur, before eventually going back to the Mikado name after WW2.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-3: Poor based on visual appearance. This locomotive and tender have many broken and missing parts. Several trim pieces are loose or damaged as well. Please check photos carefully. When tested it did not run. The instruction manual is not included. The original box is included. Sold as-is. Overall condition is Poor.
